So named because one of the buildings above the beach used to be a school.
Another of Lagos’s most photographed beaches this is the location of the famous Roman Bridge which linked the mainland with Pinhao Fortress which was destroyed in the 1755 earthquake and the following tsunami.
This is a medium sized beach with a rock formation down the centre, a tunnel linking the two halves of the beach.
Steps down from the excellent Mar restaurant take you onto the sands.
Casa do Pinhao is perched on the clifftop to the north and was believed to be recently owned by Angelina Jolie, and was last for sale for 25 million euros – including that bridge and the island!
