casa hugo - the down sides - yes really!

Crazy idea telling you our bad points? Maybe, but we've had enough unexpected holiday 'surprises' ourselves in the past we thought being honest might make a refreshing change!

We're right next to the road to the beach so there is some traffic noise, although it's reduced by our high garden walls. But without that road you couldn't get to the beach so smoothly, plus we wouldn't have our amazing sea views

We‘re situated between two other established villas but there are always renovations going on somewhere which may cause noise and/or dust. There are still a few new building plots in the area left to be developed so the cranes every builder uses in Portugal are a familiar sight in the area. There may therefore be noise if building work is close by. Also note all gardeners use petrol powered equipment so that may also temporarily interrupt your holiday

The Porto de Mos area is a fantastic place to relax - the beaches, the views, Ponta da Piedade - but it's not overrun with restaurants or bars and we only have one small supermarket within 1km. We think that's a good thing - it's quieter without block after block of apartments and the noise from streets of restaurants - but a taxi or car is handy to get the 2km into Lagos, to the bigger supermarkets and to explore everything Lagos has to offer. We've got loads of quiet kerbside parking plus one off-road space behind the sliding gate. Alternatively walking into the old town only takes 25 minutes

Casa Hugo was built to exceptionally high standards by one of the areas best builders around 20 years ago, using top quality materials and fittings. It's worn well, but there are areas that are no longer 'brand new' - the kitchen is our next priority. We've upgraded constantly since 2018 - new patios, floors, bathrooms and windows are our latest 2024 investments but please don't expect spangly 100% brand new perfection everywhere!

Another website space left to fill. And we have no more downsides...
