It's a special experience watching the sunset here - you have to do it at least once
The new maze of clifftop boardwalks starts only 400m away from Casa Hugo and is fantastic for an evening stroll - head past the entrance to Cascade and turn right at the end of the road
The walled city of Lagos is over 2000 years old. Famous mariners set forth from Lagos in the 1400s - the start of the Portuguese Age of Discoveries
The fort, turreted walls and the first slave market in europe are still standing despite the earthquake of 1755 which destroyed a lot of Portugal, also ending Lagos's title of Capital of the Algarve. Fast-forwarding 350 years, since 2011 street artists from all around the world have been coming to Lagos to decorate the city with stunning graffiti. The shops and ancient narrow streets of the old town are great to explore
Stopping for a coffee and a pastel de nata is essential!
Restaurants and bars, yachts and cruisers - great places to eat, drink, book a boat trip or just sit and watch the world go by. Pastel de nata time again...
There's a drawbridge to shorten the walk between Lagos old town and the Marina, the sand of Meia Praia another 10 minutes walk away, with new-for-2023 boardwalks stretching right along the coast
We've been holidaying in the central area of the Algarve for 30 years. In 2018 after years of dreaming we decided to view properties and building plots that were for sale. One plot was in a town we had never visited before - Lagos. It only took two hours in Lagos and we were hooked... later that night we found a Rightmove ad for Casa Hugo and the rest is history... hope you love Lagos as much as we do
...just 15 minutes walk from Casa Hugo
Just 5 minutes stroll from Casa Hugo is Boutique Hotel Vivenda Miranda, a hidden gem, situated in an idyllic location, lush gardens nestled into the cliff top above the beautiful Porto de Mos beach - the sunsets here are even more spectacular than from our roof terrace.
The food, service and atmosphere are wonderful. It's just... lovely
Sundown doesn't get more romantic than this!
