Conde Naste Best Beach in the World 2013
A century ago Ana was a nun who lived in a convent in Lagos. During World War 1 soldiers stormed the convent and killed all except Ana who escaped through a tunnel from the convent to the beach, now named after her.
Usually one of Trip Advisor’s Top 10 Best European Beaches, regular TA Travellers Choice shortlist entrant and along with Praia do Marinha and Lagos's do Camilo one of the three most photographed beaches in the Algarve.
Sheltered glassy turquoise water is punctuated by amazing rock formations with yet more of those amazing Western Algarve cliffs as a backdrop.
Sturdy wooden steps down to the sand, there’s a small free carpark in front of the Carvi Hotel (check out Luca's Rooftop!), and there’s a beach bar with toilets. The beach was extended in 2016 by adding rocks and dredged sand at one end of the beach, making it the largest town beach.
Standing at the top of the steps on a sunny morning this beach will take your breath away...
